I think the key to truly understanding what you are trying to explain here is empathy. You need to get a good understanding of what the host, the other DJs and the crowd want. Taking time to talk to other DJs and the host/event organizer really goes a long way here - and that&#039;s what many DJs forget. 

Many newcomer DJs are so eager to play that they don&#039;t really think about those things until they finally are behind the decks. They might even have planned their own set in great detail, but forgotten about the whole context.

For myself, I adopted a couple of routines over the years that helped me make my gigs as enjoyable as possible for both me, the crowd and the host. </description>
